England could have ‘won everything with a manager like Pep Guardiola, says Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney believes England’s’Golden Generation’ could have”won everything” if they’d functioned under a manager of Pep Guardiola’s calibre.
Rooney, who has 120 capsand England, stared but never improved beyond the quarter-final stage.
But he believes the disappointing record of England was to coaching rather than a deficiency of talent.
“I see [England] with excitement and pleasure when they’re winning,” he informed the Wayne Rooney Podcast.
“You look at our staff 10 years back and arguably we had the best set of players in soccer.
“Rio Ferdinand, John Terry, Ashley Cole, [Steven] Gerrard, [Paul] Scholes, [Frank] Lampard, [David] Beckham, myself, Michael Owen – our team then, when we had a Guardiola with that group of players, then we’d have won every thing, no doubt about it.”
Rooney is now the record goalscorer ahead of Sir Bobby Charlton, four with 53 of England.
However he considers present England captain Harry Kane – who has scored 26 goals for England – is capable of overtaking this record.
“I never carry targets for granted, I still love grading them. Once I need to 35 for England, I might truly feel that the record becoming close,” Rooney said.
“I do not think it’ll endure for 50 years including Bobby Charlton’s, I think Harry Kane, possibly the subsequent a couple of years will… He’s a fantastic goalscorer and his album for England is fantastic.
“When I got the album and then went for my final game I said it’d be an honour to go and gift him such as Bobby Charlton introduced me with the golden boot and also I am sure it will not be before too long.”
