The Charles Leclerc of ferrari took pole position to qualifying in the Grand Prix after a farcical end.
All drivers except Leclerc and Carlos Sainz of McLaren didn’t have around following waiting to catch a slipstream at 27, to begin a lap.
The unlikely orgasm left Leclerc on rod with his first lap, beating Lewis Hamilton by 0.039 seconds.
Another Mercedes of all Valtteri Bottas was ahead of Renault’s Daniel Ricciardo along with Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel.
It had been Leclerc’s second successive pole position in just seven days.
The 21-year-old did not have to complete a lap after he became the frontrunner that is sole to make it across the line in time in the conclusion of the session.

“Already on Wednesday at Milan was incredible and today to see a lot of people feels absolutely awesome.
“Happy with the pole but ultimately there was a major wreck. I expected for a last lap but in the end it was sufficient for pole”
The almost laughable scenes at the end were precipitated by the fact that a slipstream at Monza can be worth about 0.3secs a lap, useful when the times are so close to a circuit with only six powerful corners.
Hamilton said because they were awaiting Ferrari to run Mercedes had been caught out.
“I have to be grateful I am on the front row,” the world champion said. “We expect to have a fight with all the Ferraris tomorrow. We split it and them is a wonderful place to maintain. We can offer them a good fight.
“It was a little anti-climax at the conclusion but it’s mad with this system we now have and they essentially timed out us.
“On the out lap it’s dangerous. You do not know who’s slowing down and who’s alongside you. It’s risky business but it’s enjoyable at exactly the same moment.”
Teams were warned that drivers could face penalties for driving gradually on their laps that were outside and also the limit to qualifying is being researched by governing body the FIA.
Hamilton leclerc and Bottas agreed that the problem was dangerous and far from ideal, but stated that they did not find a way from it although the tow was significant to a lap time.
“It’ll be till someone crashes that they will change it,” Hamilton said.
The conclusion to the session was fitting in some ways for a day filled with incident and controversy.
Vettel avoided having his sole lap time in final qualifying for imposing track limits in the Parabolica corner that was closing deleted.
Since he ran behind Alfa Romeo’s Kimi Raikkonen, who jumped in Parabolica red Bull’s Alexander Albon failed to record a time.
Hamilton, who had to lift slightly afterwards saying he believed that’d cost him rod and had been left was delayed by the crash of raikkonen.
And now Bottas, running Hamilton at the time, initially had his very first lap time deleted on the grounds that he had not made it over the line before the red flag for Raikkonen’s crash, just for officials to reinstate it when he said in fact he had.

In the conditions, he did well to lap within 0.15secs of Leclerc.
The Monegasque reported the plan was for Vettel to parade him on then Leclerc and the first runs to return the favour.
But in the chaos of the dying seconds, Vettel overtook because the cars jockeyed for position, Leclerc lap.
Leclerc then passed Vettel prior to Parabolica on instruction but Vettel did not cross the line in time to perform a job.
Behind the top , Ricciardo was in outstanding shape from the Renault, that lacks downforce but has a solid engine and goes on this type of track.
The Australian has been 0.21secs quicker than team-mate Nico Hulkenberg, with McLaren’s Carlos Sainz eighth.
